MongoDesk Privacy Policy
At Code Habit, we believe data privacy is paramount, especially for software engineering tools. MongoDesk is designed from the ground up as a local-first application. We do not collect, store, transmit, or monetize your personal data, your database credentials, or your database contents.
Everything you do in MongoDesk stays completely private and secure on your own hardware.
Because MongoDesk operates entirely client-side, we have no access to your information. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Personal Information: No email address, name, phone number, or user accounts are required.
- Database Credentials: MongoDB connection strings, usernames, and passwords stay encrypted or saved solely on your machine.
- Database Contents: The databases, collections, and documents you manage through MongoDesk never leave your machine.
- Telemetry and Tracking: We do not track features you click, app sessions, or use any telemetry platforms.
To let you reconnect to your databases quickly, MongoDesk gives you the option to save your connection profiles. These are stored locally using safe OS-level client storage technologies (like Electron LocalStorage).
This data is never backed up to our servers, and you can clear it completely at any point by deleting the saved configurations within the App.
All database actions establish direct TCP or TLS sockets between your computer and your database host (for instance, MongoDB Atlas, a local MongoDB instance, or a remote server).
We do not route your database traffic through any intermediate cloud servers, APIs, or proxy servers hosted by us. We advise all users to use SSL/TLS configurations to secure their database traffic over public networks.
Our desktop application is packaged using secure sandboxing (App Sandbox) on macOS to ensure it operates under strict user-controlled boundaries. We comply with all major App Store guidelines regarding data safety and transparent storage.
